{DIY} Sew Proud

I did mention in an earlier post my plan to learn to sew along the path to creating my daughter a quiet book. Well I am happy to share that not only is my quiet book in progress with several hand cut & sewn pages already made, but I also used a sewing machine for the first time since I was in grade 8 home economics.

Has anyone else noticed these classic skills such as sewing, knitting, crocheting etc are becoming so much lesser known. It seems they are not so often passed down through generations and that is sad. The youth of today are losing their ability to be able to do so many things themselves, instead paying for services they could easily learn, or worse, seeing little value in the things in need of repair & simply replacing them.

I am determined not to be like that… Not to mention I’m a total hoarder anyway. But if it’s broke, fix it!

So after a quick demo from mum with her sewing machine, I am proud to say I tackled an easy online sewing demo & made my own pin cushion, using the sewing machine. And this super cute fabric. What do you think?

Functional & adorable šŸ˜‰

Such a satisfying feeling creating something like this from scratch. Stay tuned as I will share some more sewing projects, and of course my quiet book pages, very soon šŸ™‚
